Benjamin Logan Elementary School to Host Annual Science Fair on February 19

Benjamin Logan Elementary School will host its annual Science Fair on Thursday, February 19, continuing a long-standing tradition that has been part of the school community since the building opened in 1995.
For more than three decades, the Benjamin Logan Elementary Science Fair has provided students the opportunity to go beyond the classroom—working alongside teachers and families to explore scientific topics of personal interest, conduct investigations, and share their discoveries with others. Over the years, thousands of students have participated, with many continuing to nurture their curiosity for science as they progress through middle school, high school, and beyond. The Science Fair reflects Benjamin Logan’s commitment to sparking curiosity and inspiring lifelong learning.
Science Fair projects are designed to be developmentally appropriate for each grade level, but all projects emphasize investigation rather than demonstration. Students are encouraged to ask questions, test ideas, and analyze results. Projects may range from a first grader investigating what salt concentration is needed to float a fresh egg to a fourth grader growing bacteria found in different areas of the school.
This year’s Science Fair will feature 72 projects created by students in grades 1–4. Judging will begin between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m. on February 19. The judging process is a highlight of the event, giving students the opportunity to explain their work and demonstrate what they have learned. Community members and Benjamin Logan High School students—many experienced with the Science Fair process—volunteer their time to ensure every student receives feedback, encouragement, and recognition.
To conclude the day, Benjamin Logan Elementary School will host a Science Fair Open House from 6:00–7:00 p.m., inviting families and community members to view student projects and celebrate the achievements of these young scientists.
Benjamin Logan Elementary extends its sincere appreciation to all volunteer judges and to the PTC volunteers who assist with organizing and setting up the event.
