PTC Meeting Notes/Minutes

PTC Meeting

Attendance:  7
Valerie Elliott led the meeting.
 
1)  Old Business/New Business
·         A PTC member inquired about replacing the American flag with a new one. 
·         The new PTC Bylaws were revised on Sunday, April 19th.  An email with the revisions was sent out on Monday, April 20th for all PTC members to review.  All present at today’s meeting voted to pass the revised bylaws. 
·         The Teacher Appreciation lunch will be provided by the PTC on Tuesday, May 5th.  Kim Hahn will purchase sandwiches and chips.  Jessica Willoby will make a sign.  Amber Rosebrook will coordinate with parents to provide desserts throughout the week of May 4th-8th.  All present at today’s meeting voted to purchase sandwiches and chips for the teacher luncheon. 
·         Back to School Night will be held on August 19th at the Elementary school.  The PTC plans on providing 1200 hot dogs, chips, and drinks (lemonade and water) for the families present that evening.  A PTC planning meeting will most likely be held this summer.
·         The letter about volunteer opportunities and information on the PTC will be revamped before the new school year. 
·         All present at today’s meeting voted to approve approximately $4000 towards an author/illustrator visit next school year.  It is hoped that proceeds from the father daughter dance and the book fair will go towards the author/illustrator visit. 
·         The photos for the mother son event need to be reevaluated.  Props will most likely not be used next year.  It was agreed that it was nice to have two lines for photos.
·         All present at today’s meeting voted to approve further planning for a Family Fun Day/Night for September.  Old fashioned games will be played and hot dogs will be served.  The event will be limited to the first 500 people who send in registration forms.
·         The screen for the gymnasium will be wired today, Friday, April 24, 2015.
·         The fundraiser that has been used for the past few years will be used again next school year.  The PTC is under contract with this particular fundraiser company for one more year.  If anyone has a suggestion for future fundraisers, please let a PTC officer know!
·         All present at today’s meeting voted in favor of continuing the roller skating parties for next school year.  The cost is $800 for 5 parties. 
·         Mr. Reese is working with Art Club students to design t-shirts for the elementary students next school year.  There is a possibility for teachers to purchase collared shirts.
·         The deadline for students to turn in Box Tops is April 30th.  Room moms will have to turn in Box Tops and tally sheets on May 6th.  Morgan Comer will have a Box Tops final count on Monday, May 11th at 8:15 in the elementary commons.  Extra help counting would be appreciated on May 11th.  All present at today’s meeting voted to approve the pizza parties for the two classes that collected the most Box Tops. 
·         The high school guidance counselor will pick the recipient for the $500 PTC scholarship.  All present at today’s meeting voted to approve this. 
·          
2) Pending Items to be Discussed at the Next PTC Meeting
·         It was suggested that the PTC purchase a few communal t-shirts to be worn by members during for PTC events.  It was also suggested that those willing, could purchase their own shirts.
·         The cork strips have not been installed yet.  An update will be given at the next meeting. 
·         Kindergarten teachers have requested listening centers for each classroom (6 classrooms).  Cassette tape/CD player listening centers were requested.  It was suggested that MP3/CD players be purchased instead at a cost of $164.99 each.  A couple of cassette to MP3 converters can be purchased for approximately $17 each.  Volunteers could be enlisted to help convert any old cassettes to MP3.  This request will be addressed and voted upon at the next meeting. 
3) The next PTC Meeting will be held on Monday, May 18th, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. in the Elementary Commons.
